STARS update

The average journey to school in London is less than one kilometre which is around a 10 minute work. However, many of these journeys are made by car leading to congestion, a less safe environment for students and increased pollution. That is why we recently hosted a meeting with representatives from local schools to help develop their school travel plans to encourage active and sustainable travel. The workshop helped explain Transport for London’s STARS, to plan activities for the upcoming year and to help schools report back their successes to TfL.

For those who don’t already know STARS is TfL’s accreditation scheme for London schools and nurseries. It inspires buy human tramadol online young Londoners to travel to school sustainably, actively, responsibly and safely by championing walking, scooting and cycling. STARS supports pupils’ wellbeing, helps to reduce congestion at the school gates and improve road safety and air quality.

One of the attendees, John Field of Keble Prep commented,

“The school’s involvement with Enfield Council’s travel planning and road safety experts has helped us work successfully towards accreditation from TfL under their STARS programme. We have found our pupils and parents have taken part enthusiastically in the cycling, scooting and walking events we’ve run which gradually help to change attitudes to transport in the borough. “
